Born in Hanover, Germany, in 1968, Jane developed an interest in painting and music at an early age. She studied Fine Arts and English at the University of Kassel, Germany, with scholarships in Reading, England and Salamanca, Spain. She also studied singing.
It’s the explosion of colours, the clash of forms and the use of expressive gestures that most characterise Jane’s painting. Sometimes the colours in her paintings can be interpreted as music.
Frequent topics are landscapes, seascapes, beach scenes and still lives, which often have elements of the surreal about them. Ancient gnarled olive trees, linking the present with the past, tell stories. While painting, she listens to their stories and gives the paintbrush free rein.
